Listening to: OMD - If You Leave

Was at Blue Moo to watch B_d_k P_ntai*! It's been quite a while since I was there. The weather was a little threatening all night but luckily it didn't rain.

Saw some familiar faces there last night I think... was quite funny 'cos I was quite sure who the person was, and I think she was too. But didn't talk as never knew her that well in JC anyway. Haha.

ash and rie, I didn't see you girls :(

It was a packed house as usual... the stage has shifted since the last time I was there. The guys were very good as usual!

The Oreo shakes were yummy...

The winds were blowing quite powerfully... the clouds were moving very quickly! Here's a particularly large cloud, illuminated by the Blue Moo lights. Heheh.

I took a video of the funny song where Gordon does a running translation of a Hokkien song. Anyone wants? Anyways, thanks kay lii for having us along yeah :)

Didn't feel like heading home straight after, so we took a short walk from YMCA to Somerset MRT. Along the way, we spotted this:

Located just opposite the Istana gates is this thingie (I have no idea what this is). Quite nice at night...

Finally, the pic isn't that clear but there are red and blue blinking police lights on the road. Thought it looks quite nice and Christmassy, muahaha. :)

*I have not spelt out the name of the group in full, as Singapore's Brainiest Lawyer (aka one of the members) has been known to Google the name. Haha. So there. ;)

Listening to: Switchfoot - Meant To Live

Here's just some pictures taken over the past couple of days that sum up my lazy week thus far.

cbb and melt hope that no one notices that they've broken the seat on the 179. :O

Clarke Quay MRT is now a training ground for vertical marathon enthusiasts...

agent s. has got a doll obsession hobby, and we headed down to the shop at Riverside Point yesterday before the movie. I was horrified at how much her purchase cost!!! Oh em gee.

My sis needed to do some shopping today and we had lunch at IKEA. Check out the lunchtime queue!

An essential part of the IKEA experience (besides the divine meatballs of course) will have to be the hot dogs, yummmmmm. :)

Finally, I've been seeing Thomas & Friends everywhere this past week. I almost swear the stupid train (whose only movable body parts are its eyes) is stalking me. :@

Listening to: Travis - Flowers In The Window

And so we went to watch this today, a day before the opening:

Ocean's Twelve (2004)

The premise is simple: in 2001's Ocean's 11, Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and his motley crew of thieves rob Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia) of $160 million. Three years later, Benedict wants his money back, plus interest. So the film is about how Ocean and the gang try to pull of another series of heists to get the money within the two-week deadline set.

Sounds exciting? Erm, not quite.

Firstly, why "Ocean's Twelve"? The character played by Bernie Mac is in jail half the time. And Catherine Zeta-Jones?

Definite eye-candy... but nothing Oscar-worthy for sure. Nevertheless, damn good looking to those not attracted to Clooney/Pitt/Damon.

I was most disappointed that these three guys didn't get more scenes together. Matt Damon showed some of the quirkyness we first saw in The Talented Mr Ripley (if you haven't watched that, please go get the DVD or something), but only just a little before he is smothered by a whole lot of talk by the other ten (eleven?).

And this is where the movie falls flat. For a heist movie, where's the real heist? Instead, it resorts to slapstick humour (biggest example being when the Chinese guy is put into a bag, lol) and gags to keep the audience interested. Also, besides the above-mentioned three guys, the rest of the cast just fades into the background. If you hadn't watched the first movie, would you know who among the group is a bombs expert/safecracker/pickpocket? I think not.

The only redeeming factor would be how goodlooking the cast is. If that's not enough for you, better save the $7.50 to rent the Ocean's 11 DVD.

Lester's rating: 2.5/5 stars!

Listening to: Liang Jing Ru - Fly Away

Spent much of the day surfing aimlessly and sleeping. Seems like the hols have been alternating days of going out/spending too much money/coming home late, and staying at home watching the minutes tick by.

Not a bad way to live, if you ask me.

Spent a few hours in school yesterday... was a bittersweet feeling. Alvin and I gave a short production workshop to the new editors... was weird to talk to these people and try to dispense advice, haha. I don't know why it was weird lah. Maybe it's cos they don't have to listen to us anymore? :S

But it was a bit sad, working with my partner in crime for perhaps the last time. Over the years (haha), we've developed an easy chemistry, and I'm quite pleased with what we've achieved in 2004. The dynamic duo indeed! Cheer bro. ;)

Going for this floorball course on Sunday! Hahaha. It's about time I did some athletic stuff again... becoming a disgusting slob. :P

But before that! Looking forward to catching the movie of December:

Heheh, shi de. Watch out for my review tomorrow!

Listening to: Coldplay - Parachutes

The other day, I asked my sister to buy a women's magazine for me. Now don't get me wrong; I still think FHM/Maxim/New Man are worth reading (any guy who disagrees is lying, or erm, batting for the other team. Heheh)... it's just that someone I used to know was in that particular issue.

I had to flip through the magazine from front to back, and back to front again before I found the page she was on. Reading through the story, I just really had to laugh at sentences like "I tend to put on weight easily, especially when I'm in a comfortable relationship", and "don't fall for the boyfriend trap - some guys like to make you fat to ease their own insecurities".

Hahaha. Like I said before, it's funny how time changes the shape of things. ;)

Listening to: Goo Goo Dolls - Give A Little Bit

Just woke up. Where did my Sunday go? Sigh.

It's the Star Awards today. I hope someone I know wins... she certainly does deserve it. :)

Anyways, we thought of a name for our new band. It's going to be called Ceiling. Why? Here's a clue: so if you really like our band, what would you call yourself? Heheh.

Entry to be updated later tonight!

Yes, she won! Congrats to Dong Su Hua aka Mrs Teo, heheh. :)

Listening to: Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out

It was a splendid Saturday. And like most things nowadays, the best stuff always happens unplanned. ;)

My BBQ was cancelled at the last-minute... was quite sian but oh well decided to go for the soundcheck at Rouge anyway with agent s. and xiggy. The band was seriously delayed due to the rain, and they'd also encountered some bad luck after losing their guitar cables, lol.

While Electrico was preparing to pose for the Chron cameras, I decided to be funny and do this:

Heheheh. ;)

So anyway, we were on the band guest list for their gig later that night! How cool is that. (H)

The pic is very blur cos I had to sneak the shot while the door bitch was distracted. :X Anyway if you have qian li yan, it's our names there circled in red. Hoho.

No free drinks though... however, we didn't know it was one-for-one all night. Damnit. So there's six gin tonics on our table there haha. Spotted last night were Sam from Pug Jelly and Lim Yu Beng from, erm, Triple Nine (?!).

Didn't get great photos of the performances... but here's one of Dave bathed in blue light. (with grandpa panties draped in the background, hahaha)

Electrico's set was a little different from the usual... they played the less rock-sounding songs off their album like "Fabled Angst Machine" (xiggy's favourite) and "I See The Light".

But my favourite part of the gig had to be when Desmond started playing a faintly familiar bassline... and Dave started singing: "So if you're lonely, you know I'm here waiting for you..." Omg yeah it's Franz Ferdinand's insanely catchy "Take Me Out"! And they did a great cover of it, even though Dave couldn't remember the lyrics and made them up as he went along. ;)

Up next after Electrico was Armchair, a five-piece rock-pop outfit from Thailand!

There were a lot of Thai people at Rouge last night, and boy were they entertained, singing along and swaying along to the catchy sounds of Armchair.

Found this mildly amusing... Amanda and Dave decided to stick around for Armchair's set... and guess who's behind them haha. ;)

For some reason, both the girls found Armchair's lead singer highly attractive. One even went as far as to comment that "he reminds me of Takuya Kimura". Erm.... hmmm. =X

The bassist, however, reminded me alot of J.Lo, ex Chron reviews ed (among other ex-es he is. Heh)!

xiggy
was so enamoured by the fellow that she nicked one of their posters from the ladies'. Haha.

Us after the gigs. Was much fun indeed! :)
