Listening to: Travis - Flowers In The Window
And so we went to watch this today, a day before the opening:

Ocean's Twelve (2004)
The premise is simple: in 2001's Ocean's 11, Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and his motley crew of thieves rob Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia) of $160 million. Three years later, Benedict wants his money back, plus interest. So the film is about how Ocean and the gang try to pull of another series of heists to get the money within the two-week deadline set.
Sounds exciting? Erm, not quite.

Firstly, why "Ocean's Twelve"? The character played by Bernie Mac is in jail half the time. And Catherine Zeta-Jones?

Definite eye-candy... but nothing Oscar-worthy for sure. Nevertheless, damn good looking to those not attracted to Clooney/Pitt/Damon.

I was most disappointed that these three guys didn't get more scenes together. Matt Damon showed some of the quirkyness we first saw in The Talented Mr Ripley (if you haven't watched that, please go get the DVD or something), but only just a little before he is smothered by a whole lot of talk by the other ten (eleven?).
And this is where the movie falls flat. For a heist movie, where's the real heist? Instead, it resorts to slapstick humour (biggest example being when the Chinese guy is put into a bag, lol) and gags to keep the audience interested. Also, besides the above-mentioned three guys, the rest of the cast just fades into the background. If you hadn't watched the first movie, would you know who among the group is a bombs expert/safecracker/pickpocket? I think not.
The only redeeming factor would be how goodlooking the cast is. If that's not enough for you, better save the $7.50 to rent the Ocean's 11 DVD.
Lester's rating: 2.5/5 stars!
