1736hrs

I am spending my precious Sunday:

1) channel surfing like crazy (2, 3, 6, 9, 18, 20, 22, 23, 24, 51, 52, 52, 54, 2, 3, 6, 9...)

2) looking at my mobile periodically (still suffering from PPS)

3) Vacuuming the house (mum's in JB over the weekend)

4) Waiting for... dunno what leh

There's got to be a better way to spend Sunday.

Listening to: Tyler Hilton - When It Comes

This Tyler Hilton guy looks and sounds like a young John Mayer... take a listen at MTV.com.

On Friday, yann and I met up for dinner and drinks. Being lazy asses, we decided to go somewhere really happening: Compass Point (she lives in Sengkang) and the cafe at Punggol Park (I live in Hougang). Heheh.

Yann's gotta be the most geeky girl I know by a mile. (agent s., you're off the hook :P) No matter how we tried to steer the conversation towards topics like old flames and college days, it would inevitably return to stuff like...

me: "eh what are the specs for your iBook?"
yann: "1.4 gigahertz, 12 inch screen...."

And do you know anyone who has already watched Episode III twice as of Friday? I do. :X

We also talked about Tomorrow.sg, Wordpress, personal domain prices, blogging in general, and her chance meeting with mrbrown the night before.

And of course, there was good beer:

I had both. (y)(y) The jury is still out on which is the better beer. ;)

Really crap lighting, used the flash :O

Was a good night out... :)

These memes are taking the blogosphere by storm, aren't they?

from agent s.:

1. Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
Hmmm not that many, though I'm trying to expand on my collection of all time favourite films. Say about 10 for now?

2. The last film I bought:
That Thing You Do! and Maria Full Of Grace (still unwatched, yikes) back in March.

3. Last film I watched:
Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (Special Edition) yesterday [more about this in a later entry]

4. Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:

* Back To The Future I and II - I taped both movies from the telly and rewatched them until the tapes spoilt (w)

* Jerry Maguire - the "you... complete... me" scene was something to remember.

* Motorcycle Diaries - beautifully filmed, absolutely memorable, and only cost $6.50 to watch.

* About A Boy - Hugh Grant is my favourite actor! And his Audi TT Quattro totally rocks this movie.

* Forrest Gump - one of the few movies that a) I watched alone, and b) made me cry, ha ha. *uncomfortable laugh*

5. Tag five people and have them put this in their journal:

a) kay lii
b) rie
c) ash
d) meddymoo
e) max

[editor's note #1: none of the five people I tagged in Musical Baton have taken it from me. :@
editor's note #2: why the heck is this thing called a "meme"?!]

0200hrs

The song came onto the radio.

I said: "Hey, I love this song!"

Her eyes seemed to be closed, but she probably wasn't sleeping.

She must have been thinking: "You always say that."

I started singing softly, into her ear. I always marvel at how song lyrics come easily to me, unlike stuff like names or mathematical formulae.

Her eyes remained closed. As I continued into the bridge part, I wondered if she was listening.

But I knew, deep inside, that she was. 'Cos this song couldn't have been any more appropriate.

"In the still of the night
I held you held you tight
Cause I love love you so
Promise I'll never let you go
In the still of the night

I remember that night in May
When the stars were bright above
I'll hope and I'll pray
To keep your precious love

So before the light
Hold me again with all of your might
In the still of the night."

Listening to:

U2 - Zooropa (1993)

yann has passed me the popular musical baton! And here I sprint with it furiously...

Total volume of music files on my computer:

10.75GB, 2352 songs and 6.1 days

The last CD I bought was:

Techically speaking, F.I.R.'s "Wu Xian". But I only paid 99 cents for it 'cos I cashed in my HMV voucher.

So it should be the Swing Girls OST!

Song playing right now:

U2 - "Stay (Far Away, So Close!)"

Songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

Wah piang, too many to mention lah. But just a few:

1) Extreme - "More Than Words"
- Always will be my favourite song, ever.

2) Southern Sons - "You Were There"
- Second favourite song.

3) Better Than Ezra - "At The Stars"
- Very, very special, this one. :)

4) U2 - "Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of"
- I listen to it when I'm feeling down.

5) Oasis - "Live Forever"
- I recently told someone this is my theme song, haha.

Five people to whom I’m passing the baton:

1) agent s.
2) olduvai
3) pei fen
4) pea
5) ying

(editor's note: why.. it came out in alphabetical order without me arranging it! Cool...)

C'mon let's go! :)

Listening to: Oasis - Lyla

This one's for my dad, who's more generous than I give him credit for. ;)

We met just past noon at a Japanese restaurant in town; as I walked in, he was already peering at the menu and trying to fend off the overzealous waitress ("Sir, you sure it's enough?").

We started off with some sashimi:

Just look how thick the slices are. (y)(y)!

Dad recommended the beef sukiyaki set:

The portion was pretty huge and I had some trouble finishing it. My appetite is getting worse... sigh.

So anyway after lunch, I told Dad that I wanted to go look for sneakers at FEP. Since he's the boss and has nothing better to do ("go back surf Internet only"), he went with me!

At the shoe shop, I pointed out the pair that I liked. He took out his glasses, peered at them ("made in Vietnam leh"), then declared: "I think I can wear this one leh!"

I was suitably mortified. Thankfully, he spotted another pair and promptly tried them on:

The sight of him trying on a pair of Nike sneakers while in a shirt and tie: priceless.

The shop didn't have his size, so the sales staff said he would go over to another branch to get it. We would have to wait for a half hour, so we went to get a drink outside.

And so it was him with his coffee and blowing smoke into my face, and me with my barley drink, sitting outside FEP at 2 o'clock in the afternoon like a couple of delinquents. Very surreal.

Later on, the guy got my dad's shoes, and as they were being put into the box, a funny conversation began.

Dad: What's your name?
Sales staff: *softly* Ah Choon.
Dad: Har??
Sales staff: *louder* Ah Choon.
Dad: *thinks* Got English name anot?
Sales staff: Got... Leorick.
Dad: ... ... nice name!

Anyway, here's a nicer shot of my dad's new shoes:

And of course, mine too! :)

0905hrs

Listening to: Jay Chou - Ke Ai Nu Ren

Episode III opens in theatres today! Was thinking if I want to catch it... after all, although I know a lot of Star Wars trivia, I haven't watched a single episode before. Haha.

So let's see what little do I know of the story:

1) It's basically a simple story of good vs evil, and how a good guy is lured by evil forces and crosses over to The Dark Side

2) There's a good mix of humans, aliens and robot gadget thingies in the cast

3) Luke Skywalker's dad is Darth Vader aka Anakin

4) Lightsabers are really cool

5) ... ... err that's about it.

Haha! To watch or not to watch? Maybe I should rent Episodes I, II and IV to VI and spend this Saturday on a Star Wars marathon! :O

In the meantime, here are a few recommended reads:

- yann's kickass review of Episode III
- mrbrown's Flickr photoset of the Episode III premiere

And my cousin Eugene spent a day hanging out with Star Wars fanatics outside the Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan, New York:

But whether or not I catch ROTS (haha stupid acronym), this one definitely must watch:

Opens June 29!
