Listening to: Norah Jones - Don't Know Why

A door was slammed in my face today.

As with most doors, it hurts when that happens.

Letting go and walking away is always the hardest thing to do, isn't it. But I've given it all I have to give... and that's that I guess. This, is really the last time.

Good luck and all the best. Hope you'll have as much fun as I did; hope it'll change your life, as it did to mine.

Listening to: Jay Chou - Shi Jie Mo Ri

Everyone's creating quizzes about themselves... I did it so long ago, in 2002! Sheesh. Anyways, here's an updated quiz on me. Personally, anyone who can get more than 8 correct is either a) my sister, or b) cheating! Hahaha.

Have fun. :) I'll announce the highest scorer at the end of the week!

Listening to: Rob Thomas - Lonely No More

I've been meaning to put my $20 HMV voucher to good use, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Anyway, why would I wanna buy stuff from HMV! After thinking a while, I decided to buy CDs that are not readily available at other stores.

But even then it's not easy. Both HMV outlets in Singapore do not have this:

The Goo Goo Dolls - Live In Buffalo (2004)

I'm a sucker for live albums. Come August, if any of you dear readers out there decide to find it in your good hearts to get me a birthday present (hah!), a good live album would be a great choice, hoho.

If this one doesn't work out, then I may consider this one, something I've been eyeing for over a year:

John Mayer - Any Given Thursday (2003)

But last I checked, it costs $50+ at HMV, what the heck. Hmmm.

Anyways in other news, there's this song I'm hearing now that's kinda nice. Anyone knows Rob Thomas? The guy who did the Grammy-winning "Smooth" with Santana? The lead singer of Matchbox 20 Twenty? Well apparently he's got a new album out... the first single "Lonely No More" sounds kinda Latin a la Marc Anthony! A little cheesy but still, very catchy.

Finally, if you suakus still dunno who Rob Thomas is, here's how he looked last time:

BUT apparently Rob has gone for some sort of an extreme makeover, and he now looks like this:

WHOA! Is it really him?! Someone get on the phone and ask who's his stylist! Haha. :)

Listening to: Perfect 10 98.7FM

I'm back.

The first thing I did this morning was to switch on the radio... and two SMU deans are talking to Daniel Ong and Grace Chua on Perfect 10! Recruitment drive goes on air, fwahh. Guess bus stop ads ain't good enough for them...

Cheesy Tagline of the day: "At SMU, our professors don't teach; they transform."

No wonder SMU is different from the other unis in Singapore! They really mean business....hurhur ;)

Listening to: Heavy D and the Boyz - Now That We Found Love

The movie of the week:

Hitch (2005)

We decided to catch this film before we lost interest in it; dating movies don't usually hold one's attention for too long. After all, I still want to watch Robots and Team America: World Police!

So anyway, Will Smith is back as Alex Hitchens, a "date doctor" whom hapless men come to when they have problems getting women to go out with them.

Hitch's biggest challenge to date comes in the form of Albert (Kevin James from The King of Queens), a plus-sized bumbling accountant who just so happens to have a serious crush on one of his clients, hot celebrity Allegra Cole.

Allegra is played by supermodel Amber Valetta, who's obviously no nubile teenager anymore but still looks really classy and just plain hot, heheh. (6)

Along the way, a gossip columnist Sara (Eva Mendes) gets wind of Hitch's work and simultaneously starts to fall for Alex Hitchens. Sounds confusing? Hahaha. The real problem starts when she finds out that they're the same person...

While Will Smith is the protagonist and the big star in the show, he is overshadowed by the great comedic performances of Kevin James and Amber Valetta, who generate much more chemistry, laughter and sparks than Will and Eva.

A random observation if you decide to catch this film: count the number of Asian faces you spot throughout the movie. There are a lot for some reason, hmmm.

Anyways, it's not a bad movie lah, quite funny and enjoyable. Do stay for the closing sequence, it's hilarious! Haha. :)

Lester's rating: 3.5/5 stars!

Listening to: Amy Winehouse - Help Yourself

I came home at 4am this morning, so I should still be snug in bed. But there's a stupid school sports meet going on at the stadium across the road... "In Lane One, from Blue House..." ARGGGHHH bloody hell! :@

Anyways, the bros and me I myself (phew) have been wanting to concoct our own version of Zouk's Long Island Tea ever since we tasted the poison more than a year ago. Last night, we finally did it! All the ingredients and guinea pigs people were in place.

The stars of the show pose for the camera(phone). According to this recipe, the ingredients in Long Island Tea are (from left): light rum, gin, vodka and tequila. You may be able to just spot camera-shy Coke hiding behind rum and gin. ;)

There's supposed to be lemon in the recipe too, but stupid jon forgot to bring so we settled with Absolut Citron, heheh.

I did the initial pouring of ingredients (one full glass of each main ingredient... think I over-estimated, oops), then justin did the mixing and adding of (lots and lots of) Coke to temper the overwhelming taste/smell of rum + tequila, the combination of which totally put gin and vodka in the shade.

Swirl baby swirl! Looks like coke, tastes like pure evil. Haha. But I kinda got used to the strong taste, and it gives one helluva buzz too. (y)

ivan really hates it though, as you can tell from his provocative gesture. (w)

The verdict: ain't nothing like the real thing - just stick to Zouk lah haha. Oh well... yum seng!!! Just ignore the gu niang Minnie Mouse mug hahaha. ;)

Listening to: Naked - Raining On The Sky

I really dislike people gleaning knowledge from my blog. Personally, I do read many, many of my friends' journals, but seldom do I go "oh I read from your blog that...", or "you wrote in your blog that..."

I guess to me, I should be, to you, a friend first before something you read off the Internet?

Dunno... maybe it's just me. But I'd much prefer that we don't discuss our blogs too much. Maybe it's a denial thing... nowearenotgeeks.

***

I write this because I just gleaned some info from somewhere and I feel a bit funny about it. Two of the people I consider to be my closer friends since way back when met up after a long time, but they never call me leh. Sigh. I know it's childish to feel left out, but I feel left out lah haha. Oh well...

I fear that I'm losing touch with some friends. Not those whom I'm happy to just talk to online and meet up with once in a blue moon... but those pals from a very long time ago when I had floppy hair and braces.

Think it's time to try to organise something again... dec, help me out here?
